Many carvers appreciate the tactile experience and the satisfaction of turning a natural material into unique works of art. Wood carving can be enjoyed with minimal equipment, making it accessible for beginners. Simple tools such as knives, chisels, and gouges are often used, and you can start with soft woods like basswood or pine. As your skills progress, you may experiment with more complex designs and harder woods, expanding both your capabilities and creative possibilities.

For the past 30 years, Wendy O’Meara has taught line dancing at Roaring Camp in Felton as well as at various schools throughout Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. Over the past year, along with her husband Randy, they have had the pleasure of working specifically with seniors to share the joy and benefits of line dancing. Their classes focus on a low-impact series of line dances designed to improve balance, agility, cardiovascular health, and lower body muscle endurance. In addition to the physical benefits, these dances help enhance cognitive function and memory, build confidence, and foster happiness through social connections and a sense of accomplishment. Class Information: •Time: 11:00 AM every Friday •Cost: $9 for Senior Center members / $10 for non-members •$4 from each sale will be returned to the Senior Center
